AI Timeline Generation
How to use AI to generate or enhance your wedding day timeline based on event details and vendor assignments.
Gilded can generate a complete day-of timeline using AI. It takes into account your event details, vendors, venues, and existing entries to produce a realistic schedule that you can edit and refine.
Generating a New Timeline
If your timeline is empty, click Generate with AI in the toolbar. The AI will build a full timeline based on:
- Ceremony and reception times and venues
- Day-of details (prep locations, hair and makeup count, first look, cocktail hour)
- Guest count and wedding party size
- Vendors linked to the event (photographer, DJ, florist, etc.)
- Travel time between venues
Generation takes about a minute. When it finishes, your timeline is populated with entries and vendor assignments.
Enhancing an Existing Timeline
If you already have some entries, the button changes to Enhance with AI. In this mode, the AI fills in gaps around your existing entries without removing or overwriting what you have already built. This is useful when you have the key moments set but want the AI to add supporting entries like vendor arrival times, photo sessions, and buffer periods.
What the AI Knows
The AI is trained on wedding industry timing patterns:
- Hair and makeup takes approximately 45 minutes per person
- Wedding party photos typically need 30-45 minutes
- Family formals take 45-60 minutes
- Standard cocktail hour is 60 minutes
- Buffer time between ceremony and reception depends on travel distance
It combines these heuristics with your specific event data to produce a schedule that makes sense for your wedding.
Editing After Generation
AI-generated entries are fully editable. You can change times, add descriptions, reassign vendors, delete entries, or reorder them. The AI gives you a starting point — you make it yours.
Vendor Assignment Matching
When the AI generates entries, it matches them to your event's actual vendors by type. If your event has a photographer named "Sarah Chen Photography," the AI will assign photo-related entries to that vendor automatically.
